Finally, a trendsetting genre! This weekend, reenergize yourself with this Rajkumar Rao and Shraddka Kapoor starrer, which is guaranteed to leave you partly-frightened, partly-amused, but a hundred percent entertained!

Rating – 3.5 / 5

A mad mad Maddock films production, brilliantly written by Raj & DK, that dares to experiment horror with comedy, giving major Bhool Bhulaiyya vibes and successfully creating a bulls-eye balance between intensity and light-heartedness. Goes without saying but Rajkumar Rao strikes again!

This comical mystery is set in a small town named Chanderi (in Madhya Pradesh), rumoured to be the residence of a man-harassing bhootni, Stree. Our protagonist, Vicky (Rajkumar Rao), a simple understated boy with skilled tailor hands and a kind heart gets completely enamoured by a very cryptic and low-key shady Shraddha Kapoor, who is not-so-surprisingly suspected to be the said female ghost.

Stree takes shape of a film so intelligently planned that there is absolutely no point in even attempting to solve the puzzle, along with strategically positioned humour and horror elements, making you swing between covering your eyes and laughing for minutes at a stretch! Although consisting of a wee bit of unnecessarily elongated scenes in the second half, the films remains consistent in satisfying all the senses and delivering a complete entertainment package.

Usko sabka naam kaise pata chal jaata hai?Sabka aadhaar link hai uske paas!

Genuine and quality performances by all members of the cast; so much so that even Shraddha Kapoor failed to disappoint! Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khuraana and Abhishek Banerjee are all given adequate opportunities to shine and flawlessly blend together to immensely contribute to all the laughter as well as the jump-scares.

And then we have Rajkumar Rao. Need I say anything more? The man continues to hold on tightly to his innocent and unsophisticated character (throwback to Behen Hogi Teri and Bareily Ki Barfi) and once again, wins every goddamn scene!

The verdict – if you’re a horror-movie phobic, you very well have a green signal from my side. And all the horror-movie addicts, you’re in for a truly special treat! Either way, do not miss!
