Our Hindi thriller movies cast a different kind of spell on me…they take me to an alternate reality where the line between truth and fantasy begins to blur. Here’s presenting my list of the Top 10 most underrated Bollywood thrillers that’s bound to leave you shook, hooked but oh-so-entertained!

10. Ittefaq (2017)
There’s his version, there’s her version and then there’s the truth… An edge of the seat murder mystery comprised of Akshaye Khanna’s mindblowing performance and director Abhay Chopra’s all-consuming screenplay!

9. Ugly (2014)
An intricate and delicately designed Anurag Kashyap directorial involving some dark, creepy yet gripping lanes behind an urgent matter of innocence – hands-down one of the most under-recognized films of our time!

8. Wazir (2016)
A Farhan-Amitabh starrer that strategically unravels the idea of inner vs. outer conflict when tragedy and helplessness feast on you and all you got is yourself! Slow to start, but gains momentum and proves all your guesses wrong!

7. Rahasya (2015)
One of my go-to thrillers! Rahasya offers a fresh and engrossing take on the Talvar murder case by spinning it around into a brain-stimulating story for the soul. KK Menon at his best!

6. Drishyam (2015)
A remake of Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam film, Drishyam embodies its title, meaning visuals. A meticulously woven plot line that belts you in from the word go! Its Ajay Devgn vs. Tabu, how far can they go to save their families?

5. Talaash (2012)
What I would call a “soulful psychological thriller”, if such a category even exists. An Aamir Khan-starrer that slowly wraps around your body and takes control over your mind! Directed by Gold girl Reema Kagti.

4. Aitraaz(2004)
Hmmm, a film that literally feeds my soul! Never have I ever seen a movie in which a woman is incriminated for sexual harassment by a man…who actually wins! Badass director duo Abbas-Mustan have a way of thinking much ahead of our time and with hotties like Akshay and Priyanka, this one was sure-shot winner!

3. Badlapur (2015)
We all know Varun Dhawan from his cute, chikna, chocolate-boy characters in Main Tera Hero, Humpty Sharma and Judwaa 2. But remember the time he grew a full-blown beard, put on a vengeful personality, and absolutely slayed it in this hungry-for-revenge thriller, that too, opposite the modern cinema God – Nawazuddin Sidiqqui!

2. 36 China Town (2006)
Seven suspects, multiple motives, one murder…intelligently unfolded via a hilarious roller coaster ride consisting of master entertainers Paresh Rawal and Johnny Level as well as the hottest couple of the time Shahid-Kareena!

1. Pink (2016)
I wouldn’t call Pink an “underrated” thriller per se considering it did gain a lot of attention, especially when Big B said “The word ‘No’ is a full sentence.” But this Shoojit Sircar product was surely a one of its kind with its camera work and emotion-inducing dialogues…not to forget, our forever favourite Badla-duo Amitabh Bacchan and Taapsee Pannu, putting Pink at the top of our list!
